I'm in the market for a new kitchen garbage can, however I can't really justify spending $70-150 on one of those pretty stainless steel step on lid ones. Does anybody have one of those? Is it worth it? Do they really cut down on odor?
For my other garbage cans, I was thinking of buying vintage tins. Garbage cans can be beautiful too!
I also like the idea of using old medicine bottles as vases.
What are your creative containers?

ooh, that's a good one. i love those metal tins, too bad they're mostly boxes these days.
oh, i so want my metal tin lunchbox back from my childhood. i heard metal lunch boxes aren't produced anymore bc kids can hurt themselves/others with them - bang each other on the head, get cut, etc. i wonder if that is true.
anyone know where i can get a new metal tin lunchbox?
they make such a nice sound. maybe the google thread gods will pop one up - keyword METAL TIN LUNCHBOXES!!!! -

I have one of the stainless garbage cans with the push-in lid. I like it. Bought it at Target.
I like using sucrets/altoids tins for carrying vitamins and stuff when I travel.
I also use ziplock bags to excess when I travel. -

Geo and others,
Have you ever been to Box City, one in E. Pasadena on Colorado? Now that's where I get excessive with my bagging. I really enjoy that store. I buy these plastic bags with no tops to store papers, mostly school teacher type of papers, but also works well to hold together writing and papers you just want to bunch together. No more lose papers for me.
I could bring a sample today at 3pm but that might be getting too weird, too soon. let me know. Let's talk push in lid later. -

oooo, i have been to box city! they have some great stuff.
i also shop at PaperMart in East LA area somewhere (www.papermart.com/). You browse online, then go pick up at the will call. also, you can see samples at the will call. however, you do have to buy in bulk.
btw, i have a whole box of oversized two-part hat box (gift box) with the ribbon handle.. if anyone wants to buy one or several from me, let me know! do a fast search for "hat box" and what i have is the first listing. i have the 16" size. will sell to you at cost! if you are in the LA area, let me know! i drive around all over LA for my job, so I can deliver when I am next in your area!

Bedpans make good flower pots. Everyone gets one on a hospital stay and they are great conversation pieces.
